Biotechnology solution to food low self-esteem




Prof. Benjamin Ubi, the President, Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN), has determined food insecurity as an underlining cause of some of the greatest difficulties in the area.

Ubi, who said this in an interview with this news Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja, added that biotechnology would ensure satisfactory food security in the country.

"We recognise that food security is extremely important and biotechnology, the renewable alternative policy of the government, will achieve the goal of ending food cravings, ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agriculture.


"This will also provide a type of|a kind of economical diversification as it is going to bring with it a brand new collection of skill requirements and expand job opportunities.
"The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reinforce this with Objective 2 which seeks to finish hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture since 75 per cent of crop diversity has recently been lost from farmer's field, '' Ubi said.

This individual also said that better use of agricultural biodiversity could {lead to|play a role in|bring about} more {healthy|nourishing} diets, {increased} livelihoods for farming communities and more resilient and sustainable harvesting system.

"The associated with climate change have experienced a devastating effect on food security, food supply, food accessibility, food usage and food systems balance.

"And for Nigeria to be food sufficient, we must look to level, underscoring the need for modern and climate smart agricultural practices.
